Our non-profit organization is an Indigenous-led charitable society located on so-called Southern Vancouver Island. The people leading this work are Saltwater Salish people Indigenous to this region. We are focusing on the Rematriate Stewardship Project, which is an initiative for Land Back to house Saltwater Salish women to protect our right to learn our language, how to care for our land, heal through culture and being on the land, and to teach younger generations and our community these skills.

Rematriate Stewardship Project

Hase' — Breath of Life training

Hase’ – Breath of Life explores land-based, culturally rooted approaches to healing addictions and trauma impacting Indigenous youth. Using land-based practices, breath, and embodied regulation, this work supports helpers to strengthen culturally grounded responses to the opioid crisis and youth suicide prevention. Participants learn trauma theory and relational safety practices while understanding addiction and suicidality as responses to intergenerational and ongoing colonial violence.


TRAINING DATES:

Thursday June 25 – Friday June 26,

9am-4pm Both days

WHO THIS TRAINING IS FOR:

  • Saltwater Salish peoples (Salish peoples of so-called Vancouver Island, Southern Gulf Islands, and San Juan Islands)

  • Teachers working with Indigenous youth

  • Suicide prevention workers

  • Counsellors and Mental Health Support workers

  • Community wellness practitioners
